The Story

Designed by Jerry Sherman Architects and commissioned by SMG - Worldwide Entertainment and Convention Venue Management, this project was focused on improving the user’s experience when visiting the Performing Arts Center and the Pacific Ballroom at the Long Beach Convention Center. The design incorporated custom aluminum sculptural LED fixtures that served to the benefit of both aesthetics and wayfinding. Further attributes to the project included improvements to the concrete flat-work, landscaping, signage and utility upgrades.

S3 worked diligently and delicately in this occupied and heavily trafficked public area. Through the use of a phasing plan we were able to keep the venue open and running throughout the course of the project. In close collaboration with the client, the project’s schedule was able to navigate favorably through inclement weather, scheduled events and city inspections.
